In addition to being a past winner of the George Pike Award, Jerry Andre is one of TRIPOLI Pittsburgh's most reliable and experienced flyers.
Jerry flew a few at the May launch but one of the best and biggest was his Yellow Mango.
Jerry's Mango launched on a central I-284 motor with 2 air started G-64 motors. In addition, a camera can be seen at the level of Jerry's sunglasses, at left, with a detail above.
Jerry Andre - Yellow Mango
Jerry shows the motor configuration with the central I-284 (middle) and the two outboard G-64 motors. Red caps cover each.
Jerry Andre watches as his Yellow Mango lifts off from the high power pads on a central I-284 motor. Below is an onboard shot.
Post flight analysis revealed the cause of the spiral smoke trail clearly seen in the onboard shot above and lesser so in the ground shot at right.
One of the outboard G-64 motors did not ignite.
Despite the lack of ignition of one of the air started G-64 motors, the Yellow Mango arced over and opened for recovery without incident.
And while the Yellow Mango did not land in the infield (which Jerry does so often), recovery was not too difficult in the brush.
As always, nice flying Jerry!
