TRIPOLI Pittsburgh Launch Report
Sunday August 14,  2022

15 Flyers
55 Flights

Typically Joe Pscolka is so busy helping others that he doesn't get to fly as often as he would like. Joe handles a lot of TRIPOLI Pittsburgh's new flyer certifications in addition to being the club president who takes care of the background red tape. Joe also hauls all of the TRIPOLI Pittsburgh equipment (launch pads, launch system, tents, etc). As if that weren't enough, Joe also drives the big blue tractor to make the Dragon's Fire field look good. A Special Thanks goes out to Joe for all of his hard work and efforts.

Weather: Grey, calm.

Winds were negligent early picking up slightly before noon. Just after 12 pm a small piece of rain blew in, cooling things off for a period. The rain didn't last and flying was interrupted for only a short time before resuming. Winds after the rain were calm again. Temps in the mid-high 70's.

Even seasoned veterans like Joe have mishaps. His AGM-62 Walleye on an Estes E-12.

Jerry Andre
Not only are Jerry and Casey Andre some of TRIPOLI Pittsburgh's more prolific flyers, they also help out with the maintainance of the Dragon's Fire Field.

Jerry and Casey have recently joined the "Camera Club" as they both flew flights at the August Launch with cameras affixed. At left Casey and Jerry pose with Casey's Big Nuke that flew on a K1000 motor to just shy of 4000'. The shot below was just before the apogee charge. Note the flight field and pits in the upper right corner.

Jerry Andre mounted his camera between the fins.
Jerry's camera captured this shot of the pits on descent.
The "Muddy Mon" from Jerry's onboard camera.
Onboard Casey Andre's Big Nuke.
Joe's truck, aka Rocket Magnet, has been hit by more rockets than any other vehicle at TRIPOLI Pittsburgh.
Joe's Battle Axe rocket just misses.
Joe calls this two stage, black rocket the Two Stage Black Rocket. The booster contains two D12-0 motors and one D12-3 that kicks out a parachute for the booster. The C11-5 in the sustainer carries it to about 1400'.
Phoenix Estes kit on a D12-5 heads to 650'.
